Payment to be made by cheque made out to the 'Parker & Seal Sailing Association'

Sellers – will we lose an association member when you sell your yacht? We hope not! If you enjoy being a member of the Seal Sailing Association, and the many things we get up to, do please share your enthusiasm with the new owners of your craft. Please encourage them to look around this website and pass them a membership form, which you can also download here. Thank you.

Buyers – You can see from this website that there is a very active association for all owners of Seal and Parker yachts. For many owners, membership helps them get more out of their yacht, through exchange, friendship and fun with other Seal and Parker owners. Please be sure to explore this site and ask the seller to explain the practical benefits to you.

Warnings To Sellers

1 - Be aware of a current scam whereby offers may be received, usually from overseas, which seem valid until the 'buyer' sends a cheque for more than the selling price than asks for the 'extra' to be deposited in a bank account. If this happens don't pay until the cheque has been cleared. This is not as rare as one may think. In fact a number of sellers on this site experienced this from a number of such 'buyers' but hopefully didn't fall for it.

2 - Do not give your bank details to anyone who appears to be interested in buying your boat - especially from abroad

Warnings To Buyers

The PSSA does not guarantee the correctness of any advertisement posted on this web page, or have any responsibility for any litigation that may ensue as a result of a sale

Seal 28/850

Seal 28 No. 70   Otaria    - 1978  -  in Mediterranean

Re-Posted August 2007

28 ft drop keel sloop with stern cabin.  Six berths.  Bukh 20 HP inboard diesel with two bladed prop.  Proctor through-mast reefing.

Owned from new and sailed extensively around Solent, French Coasts and Inland Waterways.

Currently in Mediterranean, where nights cost about 50% of Solent harbours, with free water and electricity.  (Berth 20 miles from Airport)

Until five years ago on a tidal mooring in Chichester Harbour and wintered ashore, thus afloat only 25% of the time of marina based boats.  Mast was unstepped annually.  Now afloat for only about two months each year.

In harbour a few miles from Martigues, near Marseilles, where the boat is berthed ashore and launched each season for a total cost of less than £700 pa, including water, electricity and excellent facilities.  Possibility of continued tenure for new owner.  Return via canals, for UK sale, may be possible.

Avon Redcrest 9 foot tender. Spray hood, with new windows and reproofing this winter.  Spinnaker, with snuffer and pole. Rotostay II, genoa-furling gear.  New Standing Rigging 2003.  Sails in very good condition.  Contessa twin burner hob, grill and oven.  Lavac toilet.  25lb CQR type anchor and 15 fathoms 5/16” chain.  Kedge, warps and fenders. Basic navigational and safety equipment.  Oceanstar VHF.

Seal 850 centreboard sloop 'Sea Lady' - posted Feb 2007

Moulded in 1979 (commissioned in 1982) for present owner who has cruised it around the UK and in the Mediterranean (via Gibraltar) to Istanbul. Fitted with 20 HP Bukh diesel and a GRP doghouse for support of crew going forward and to shelter the cockpit and instruments (including GPS and externally mounted chartboard). Tiller steering (with Autohelm 1000+spare). Skeg mounted rudder with trim tab operated by wind vane. Bolted on bulbous bow for speed, pitch damping and collision protection. Transom mounted boarding steps and rudder stops. Proctor spars and slab reefing main with lazy jacks and Rotostay jib. Sails used about 5 seasons, but in good condition including unused storm jib. Shrouds arranged to support mast when lowering. Aladdin paraffin heating of saloon and toilet compartment. New marine radios. New forestay and c/b cables. Manual Anchorman winch, four anchors (up to 30 Ibs) and 60 M chain. Two batteries and a solar panel.

Insurance survey in Nov 03 said that Sea Lady is sound structurally and in good general condition for her age. “The original fit out is superior to a standard factory boat. It has been built for serious offshore cruising with reliability and safety paramount” The boat has been little used since then and is being sold for medical reasons.

£17,000- including a 2.4M dinghy with a hard bottom (which folds down in one minute on to the foredeck) and a 2.5 HP Yamaha outboard.
