Seal Sailing Association Forums

In order to provide members with additional Forum facilities, a new Forum application has been installed, and after being used and tested by a few selected members, I have now decided to make it available to all.

The old Forum setup will be retained as it holds much useful information, but it will no longer be possible to post messages there shortly. Therefore please do not post any further messages there but move to the new Forums.

Please note - it is necessary to register to use the new Forums, but you will need to wait for a message confirming acceptance before you can post anything. This does not stop you from viewing, so before registering can I ask you to read the messages in 'Forum Issues'.

A key point in Forum Issues regards the  'User Name' when registering. The preference is for people to register with their proper name, not hide behind a pseudonym. Registrations with pseudonyms will be delayed while their owners details are checked - and may not be approved at all.

When you get acceptance play around on the Testing Forums to gain familiarity. If you have problems try the FAQ first.

After an initial period I will amend the FORUM tag in the menu to a drop down menu.

A plea to owners of PSSA class boats who are not members of the Association

While there is no obligation on anyone to join the PSSA to use the Forums, there are advantages in becoming a member:

  1. A strong Association is one factor that helps maintain the value of your boat. (I have received enquiries from Associations asking how we have been able to maintain such an active association  for over 35 years).

  2. The annual handbook provides a means of locating other members in your area.

  3. You can obtain useful manuals at ridiculously low prices (produced from articles submitted by members over the years) and regalia.

  4. You will receive 3 or 4 Newsletters each year packed with interesting articles from members.

  5. Members are encouraged to join in the rallies some of which reach across to France and Holland.

  6. Depending on how long you are a member, you may not have to pay to advertise your boat on the For Sale page (the quickest method of selling a Seal or Parker boat) I could go on...
